The show had the best attendance yet with 165 4-H members participating from Southwestern Ontario. Congratulations to those plac- ing well in their classes and all who participated! Also on Wednesday evening, the Grey -Bruce Judging Competition was held in Walkerton with 27' 4-11 members from Bruce and 57 members from Grey County. On Wednesday 20 members of the Purple Grove Women's Institutes traveled to Grand Bend for the hilarious comedy of "See How They Run". After the play they enjoyed a good meal at Bayfield. Thalia to to the ladies who made all the arrangements for the day. Jim and Fran Farrell visited recently with Derk and Lillian Logtenberg of Goderich; Karen and Leonard Farrell; Roger and WendyPu/PkGyue S m i h; � The liStitita Rein a Arnold; and Christina and baby Tyson VandeSype of Guelph. On Friday, Diane Clifford, Sylvia Hasbury and Fran Farrell attended the Quilt Show in Paisley. Beautiful work from quilt. artists in the county. On Sunday at Victoria Park, a tree dedication was held to honour Donna Bridge who received the Ontario 4-11 Arbour Award. Donna • has been actively involved with 4 II at the local, provincial and national level for many years. Representatives from Syngenta and 4-H Ontario gave congratulations and everyone enjoyed a reception following at Bridgehaven Farms. The base- ball tournament held in Dungannon in July was well attended, despite the weather. 'twelve teams were registered and the competition was lively. A Champs:.. first, Cougars & Cubs; . second, Rusty Parts; B Champs: first the Bulls from Seaford) and sec - a research trip on the ice- breaker St. Louis into the NorthWest Passage for the last three weeks. The research was doc- umenting plankton and species populations in the Arctic and its effect on global warming. Chase will now continue his studies at Trent University in Peterborough. Glad to have you back again Chase! Gabrielle and Joseph Finnie and Madison Boyle of Bracebridge visited with their Grandma Irene Boyle recent- ly. Shirley and Doug MacDonald enjoyed lunch and a great 'visit with his cousin Terry and Ellie Emmerton of Harriston on Sunday. The first cousins had a great time rehashing 'old times'. Mary Anne Kukoly spent a few days at Bockhorn in the Kawartha Lakes area. She was visiting with : her nephew and family of Sicamous, BC whiles they were holidaying there. Thank you again to all who came out and supported the efforts of the com- mittee. , The next date to mark on your. cal- endar is Sept. 5 for Great day for Fiddlers' Jamboree On Sunday, Aug. 2 the Lucknow & District Lions Club held their annual Fiddlers' Jamboree in the Lucknow Community Centre. It was orig- inally known as the Point Clark Fiddler Jam. Thirty-seven musicians of all ages, from far and wide, took part in the day. Over 300 clapping audience members enjoyed the. afternoon. A fabulous supper rounded out a won- derful day. Special guests, as always, were the folks from Community Living and Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home who really enjoy the old time music. Prizes were given out to the eldest gentleman nw sician, Norm Priebe, of Michigan and eld- est lady musician, Eva Van der Heide, of Denfield. The door prize, donated by house pianist Anne Pritchard, went to Bill and Irma Phillips, of Ashfield. The emcees, Bev Hanson, of Goderich, and Jim Swan, of St. Mary's, kept the show going. The afternoon of old time music was enjoyed by all. A big thanks to the Lions Club for continuing to put this jamboree on each year. the •Corn Roast and Silent Auction.
