Casemore knows new residence is something people want
From page 1
As of right now there are
five people interested in mov-
ing into the residence and
Casemore is hopeful there will
be six confirmed residents
when the building is opened.
She know ' it's something peo-
ple will want and that people
will be on board when con-
struction is complete.
"We have no formal applica-
tions filled out, but we have
five who have asked to be put
on the list," said Casemore. "I
think because it's been a :long
process, you can't blame any-
one for not wanting to go
through the paperwork right
away, not knowing if things
would materialize, but finally
we know it has."
For Casemore the location is
ideal because it's close to the
downtown core of Lucknow
and it will make things acces-
sible for all of the residents.
With the accessible downtown
location, the Casemores will
be providing in -town trans-
portation for everyone who
needs to get to various things
like the doctor's office, or the
pharmacy. Another concern
being met is the addition of
mailboxes being put in the
front lobby of the building, so
residents will get their mail
directly sent to them.
"We really feel it's an excel-
lent location, with it being
close to downtown," said
Casemore,. "The Legion is
close by and it has a lot of sen-
ior activities; it's close to the
town hall where there are a Tot
of card parties and it's just
close to everything available
in Lucknow."
The Casemores are still
looking at having a staff of
around 15 people, which will
include three registered practi-
cal nurses (RPN) . On top of
that there will be a physiother-
apist occupational therapist
and a speech language pathol-
ogist. The specialists will will
be at no cost, but only avail-
able when needed.
For the Casemores, it's been
a slow process, but worth the
wait because they know they
are bringing something posi-
tive to the community. It will
make it possible for people to
stay where they are and enjoy
their golden years in Lucknow.
"It's been a long time com-
ing. We truly believe that
Lucknow really needs this and
this is my hometown, said
Casemore. I know a lot of peo-
ple •here and it will be a good
fit for everyone involved."

Second case o
HINI flu virus
in Grey-Bruc
The Grey Bruce Health Unit has
received laboratory : confirmation of a
second positive case of H1N1 flu virus in
Grey Bruce.
The individual was not admitted to
hospital and is at home recovering. The
illness was not connected to travel to
Mexico.
"We know the H1N1 strain is out and
about in our area but we do not have evi-
dence of a sustained spread of severe dis-
ease," said Dr. Hazel Lynn, medical offi-
cer of health. "While the World Health
Organization is elevating their pandemic
alert, the . Grey Bruce Health Unit will
remain on the current level two. Our sur-
veillance will continue and we ask the
public to take the usual precautions of
washing , hands and proper cough eti-
quette to. prevent the spread of this dis-
ease."
The Grey Bruce case is one 1562 cases
reported in Ontario. Almost all of the
cases to date are considered mild.
Province -wide, 10 people who have the
H1N1 flu virus were in hospital as of
June 9, a number of whom have underly-
ing medical conditions.
Symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus are
similar to a mild seasonal influenza (flu)
including, chills and cough followed by
fever, loss of appetite, muscle aches and
fatigue, runny nose, sneezing, watery
eyes and throat irritation. Nausea, vomit-
ing and diarrhea may occur in adults as
well as in children. In more severe cases,
or in people with chronic conditions,
complications such as pneumonia may
develop.
