OFS.AA 'West Regional meet in Kitchener on May 29 and 30. The region includes the counties of Huron, Perth,. Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Bruce, Grey, Dufferin, Waterloo, Brant, Norfolk, Wellington, Essex, Kent, and Lampton. That . large and heavily populated area includes 165 sec- ondary schools and the level of competition at the meet was very, very high. Athletes who fin- ished in the ' top six won ribbons and athletes who - finished in the : top four qualified to advance to the provincial champi- onships in Toronto on June 4, 5 and 6. A.J. Beasley contin- ued to excel and he qual- ified to advance to the OFSAA championships in Senior Boys' 110 Hurdles. In that event, A finished second and 'broke his own FE Maul school record in a time of 14.85` seconds. He was also one of two FE Madill athletes to quali- fy to advance in the Senior Boys' Long Jump. He finished fourth in that event with a jump of 6.53 m. In A . J.'s Final individual event, the 400m Hurdles, A.J. finished fifth and was only 32 ten thousandths of a second behind the fourth place finisher who qualified to advance to OFSAA, Ixi1k barn' Shup & Save.
