Students of LCPS learn electricity safety and conservation

Jim Robillard
has been taking his
electricity safety
and conservation
presentation to
schools all over
Ontario on behalf
of Westario Power
Inc. His message is
to make children
aware of the dan-
gers of electricity
and also to let then
know it's good to
conserve electrici-
ty.
Robillard ' came
to LCPS Friday,
April 17 " to teach
the children of
Lucknow how to
safely conduct
themselves when
they are near
sources of electric-
ity. They also
learned that saving
electricity • saves
money for -their
parents.
"We go to a lot
of schools across
the province of
Ontario and this is
something kids.
need to learn," said
Robillard. "If the
kids hear about
electricity safety in
a group setting like:.
this they will learn
what it is to be safe
around electricity
and not only safety,
but conservation as
well."
Robillard's pres-
entation consisted
of a lot of visual
demonstrations
that allowed the
students of LCPS
to know where and
how electrical haz-
ards can take place.
There was a model
of power lines near
homes and parks
where kids might
go play and .it
showed kids
shouldn't go near .
them or club them
because of the dan-
gers. Robillard

from a power line
can do by sparking
the lines.
Robillard also
put an electric cur-
rent through . a
pickle to demon-
strate what an elec-
tric current could
possibly : do to a
person. The pickle
became very hot
and impossible to
touch.
