Can't wait for the summer to hit
One of the things I've been wait-
ing for since I have been in
Lucknow, is what the summer will
be like. I'm not big on the winter
months, I don't mind the cold, but
it's so easy in the morning when you
don't have to brush your ear out
of a hill of snow.
Everyone I've talked to since
I've been in this very welcom-
ing community, says summer.
time is a beautiful time of year
here.
It will be a thrill to start
barbecuing every night,
which is a nice way to
enjoy the outside as you
cook a nice big steak on the
grill.
A lot more events happen during
the summer and it will be . a great
experience for me to get out and
enjoy all of the various things that
are going on in the community.
Summerfest, music festivals,
church events, craft festival and the
annual fall fair are just some of
things .I want to enjoy in some nice
weather.
I do enjoy :my hockey and have
hada great time going out to all of
the tournaments and . following the
Lancers in their playoff run, but it
will be nice to pull out the summer
clothes and see everythingLucknow
has to offer.
Another great part of the summer
is the driving conditions. It's always
good not to worry about whether
you will slide off the road or
not, with summer you can just
cruise and enjoy the drive.
Being from Owen Sound it
will be an enjoyable drive home
when I go to visit my family
and friends:
Summer sports will be
something that will be
enjoyable, seeing the soccer
and baseball in the sun with
my camera will add some
sunny excitement to the pages of the
Sentinel.
There always is ' the winter blahs
that get some ( people down and hav-
ing the sun out will put a smile on a
lot of Lucknowite faces.
In the past few weeks since the
weather has gradually been getting
better,. I have seen a lot more people
out walking, jogging, on bikes;
roller blades and walking their dogs.
It's just a pleasant sight to see
people out enjoying the weather and
it just shows all the great people that
encompass the village of Lucknow.
Local passport clinic
Dear Editor,
Last week my staff and I held our
second round of passport clinics in
the riding. In speaking with other
caucus members in Ottawa, many of
them have held Passport
Clinics over the past 0 tuu
. P
few years and experi-
enced tremendous suc-
cess. It thought this,
would be a great way to bring one
of the many federal government
services to all of the communities in
the riding.
Between Port Elgin and Lucknow
we helped close to 300 people with
their passport applications. We had
many staff and volunteers on hand
to help people complete their pass
port applications.
Rather than travelling to
Kitchener or London to process
their applications and wait up to
three hours, people were able to
attend a clinic in their community
and have their applications sent
directly to Passport Canada. The
current processing time for pass-
ports is between 2-4 weeks. In the
month of January, Passport Canada
processed 349,000 applications.
People should also note that as of
June 1, 2009 a US law will require .
all Canadians, to present a valid
passport to enter the
Ztor - United States by water or
Mon land.
If anyone was unable to
attend the clinic, I invite
you to contact one of my con-
stituency offices and my staff would
be happy to help you. You can reach
us in Port Elgin at 519-832-2999
and in Go.derich at 1-877-524-6560.
.I would like to thank all the vol-
unteers that helped and thank every-
one that attended. We had a lot of
positive feedback from constituents
and will continue to hold these clin-
ics throughout the ..riding to help
deliver real, practical services to
your doorstep.

weatherman couldn't have heard about it. A blow, which started.
that morning after a lovely sunny day on Friday, reached its full
fury late Saturday afternoon. It was the worst storm of the winter
and;that is saying a lot.
