Whether it be helping to round up cattle, keeping critters away or keeping you com- pany while spend- ing numerous hours in the trac- tor, he was the dog for the job and he loved it. However, he wasn't just a farm dog, he was an instant smile to our daughter and friends' faces, he was comfort to a family ` friend bat- tling cancer, he was a ring dog in our wedding, he was our daugh- ter's first word. "We're not inter- ested in restructur- ing at this time," says Oke. "We're spinning our wheels." A smattering of councillors, includ- the wonderful things that Angus did to bring happi- ness to our family and those around him -but that is not why we are writ- ing this letter. We writing because we _are outraged that someone fired a gun onto private: property, not knowing what they were shoot- ing at or who was on the premises. During the shoot- ' g hoot-ing three . adults and. a child were on the property only a hundred meters away from where our dog was killed. Angus was shot only Meters from_ the road and was wearing a bright blue collar. _ It is very f disturbing l to think that some- one ,else could a have been serious- ly injured or even killed. We have reported tliisioci- dent to the .OPP. All we want is for people : to - think responsibly, be responsible and take responsibility for their action s so something like this doesn't ' hap- pen again! Ean, Amanda and Annan Moffat Oke voted for status quo i 1 1 ing Shewfelt and Bezaire, expressed disappointment with council's unwillingness to change. Bezaire says the brave move would be to introduce a system wherein county councillors are elected at large rather than the cur- rent practice of having the council comprised of reeves or mayors,. deputy mayors or deputy reeves and for municipalities with three repre- sentatives, senior- level councillors. "There's not the courage in this room to make that kind of decision," says Bezaire.
