Church. .members help build homes
Twenty-five people
attended a men's break-
fast held at the Lucknow
Presbyterian Church .:on
Saturday. The event was
organised by Tom
fowney and Luke Smith
and the guest speaker was
Don Albrecht, of St.
Helen's. -
Don and two gentlemen
from Knox Presbyterian
Church in Goderich
spoke about their trips to
Gulfport, Mississippi to
repair houses damaged
by Hurricane Katrina
over three years ago.
They work under' the
direction of the
Presbyterian Church
USA and PDA
(Presbyterian Disaster
Assistance) and found
that there are very many
people still requiring help
to rebuild their homes.
Volunteers are needed
desperately and may go
to help for two or more
weeks. The work teams
are organized in advance
by those who know what
is needed. The assign-
ments . are based on the
work to:: be done and the
skills which volunteers
bring with them. ,Men or
women care equally : wel-
conte to assist with this
most worthwhile project.
A team of volunteers
from Knox 'Church will
be going in mid-February
and there is the possibili-
ty of another team going
to Gulfport in late March
and early April.
An ! information
evening will be held in
mid February. Anyone
interested in volunteering
to help may contact Rev.
Peggy Kinsman or Don
Albrecht for additional
printed information and
application details.
