Bend, on Wednesday of this week,
Mrs. Thos. Snell, Huron Street, is
the first to report a ripe tomato and
its a beauty.
The cutting of wheat has started
in this neighborhood and the yield.
is considered good.
Mr, L. E. Rutherford, accountant
of the Bank of Commerce, late of
Dashwood, has moved to town and
is occupying firs. Cottle's house on
Ann street, recently vacated by Mr.
Frank Taylor.
Mr, Roy Patterson, County Engin-
eer, was in town Saturday engineer-
ing the sinking of -concrete posts for
the erection of a fence at the River
Park, which is to be undertaken fay
the Horticultural Society.

giving a description of the Canadian
Building at the Empire Exhibition
at Wembley, also an account of their
visit to Old Exeter.
At a meeting of the Huron County
Fruit Growers' Council, held in the
office of the Department of Agricul-
ture, it was arranged to hold a
County Fruit Show on Wednesday,
November 5th. This show is to be
held this year in Clinton.
GARDEN PARTY
The garden party given by the
Ladies' Aid of Caven church on the
Manse lawn, on Friday evening last
was a gratifying success to the com-
mittee in eharge and all concerned.
Refreshments and soft drinks were
served at booths and the "Lady with
the thousand pockets" was a special
feature and furnished lots of amuse-
ment to the juvenile element. A
goodly supply of cooking was sold
and everybody enjoyed the evening.
Dashwood brass band furnished the
music and their many beautifully
rendered selections brought out
much favorable comment from those
in attendance. Before going to the
grounds, the Band played several
catchey airs on Alain street. The pro-
ceeds amounted to about $100.00.

John, Colwill, of town.
Mr. Samuel Martin, who has been
on a visit to the Pacific Coast, re-
turned to his home here Monday
night. , He reports a very pleasant
trip. During his absence, he visited
his old; -friends, Mee and Mrs. Paul
Madge, of -Tacoma, Wash., formerly
of Usborne,, both of whom he found
enjoying, good health, and in the
best of. spirits. ;-

full swing this week, and a number
of pickers report a plentiful supply.

agent here, is taking a couple weeks'
holidays and is being relieved by Mr.
Phihbs, of Sarnia.
D.D.G.M. Taman visited the I.O.-
O.F. Lodge at Clinton, on Tuesday
night last, installing the officers for
ensuing six months.
