Friday's game with the Pirates was scoreless un- til midway through the second period when Mark VanDooren scored on a shorthanded breakaway. The Pirates answered back with their own shorthanded goal seven minutes into the third. Just over one minute lat- er, VanDooren scored his second of the night. 84 seconds later Dave Ver- berne scored the Radars third goal. Brenden Dale capped off the scoring with an empty net goal in the dying seconds. Justin Hayter made 24 saves between the pipes for the Radars. In Tillsonburg on Sat- urday night, the Thunder opened up a two goal lead in the first period before VanDooren powerplay goal got the Radars on the board. The Thunder lead 4-1 late in the second period when Drew Mar- tin's goal got the Radars back within two heading into the third period. An intermission speech from Walter Gretzky seemed to spark to Radars. (Mr. Gretzky was on hand for a ceremonial puck drop and to sign autographs.) One minute into the third Luke Vick scored a short- handed goal to make it a one goal game. Tillson- burg went up 5-3 on a powerplay marker with five and a half minutes left to play. Less than one minute later, Adam Leon- hardt scored to again get the Radars close, unfor- tunately that was as close as the Radars would get. Cam Becker made 36 saves while suffering the loss in goal. The Radars (5-7-2) are on the road for their only game this weekend. On Saturday night (Dec.12) they play in Lucian (8-5-0) at 8:30 p.m. Van Dyk leading Eagles in scoring Seaforth's Brandon Van Dyk led the way as the St. Anne's Eagles boys' hockey team continued their win- ning -streak last week after toppling the Listowel Light- ning Dec. 1. Trailing 3-1 going into the final period, Van Dyk scored a goal and earned two as- . sists, setting up the winning goal scored on a power play with 1:47 remaining in the game to secure a 4-3 victory. Van Dyk now leads the team in scoring with two goals and five assists in three games. Seaforth brothers Matt and Ray Huether each have five points so far this season.
