Huron East
man charged
with
possession
A 24 -year-old Huron East
man was charged with posses-
sion of a controlled substance
when two baggies of suspect-
ed marijuana were found in
his car on Nov 14 at 8 p.m.
when he was stopped on Main
Street in Goderich.
Police had stopped the ve-
hicle 'after the driver began
accelerating at a high rate of
speed from a stop light.
The officer detected the
odour of an alcoholic bever-
age on the driver's breath and
found an empty beer bottle in
the vehicle. A roadside sam-
ple of his breath did not result
in any charges but a search of
the vehicle revealed two bag-
gies of suspected marijuana.
The man is scheduled to ap-
pear in court in Goderich on
Jan. 11.

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance
wants to know what the public feels about
its Vision 2013 plans.
Alliance staff and board members are
offering to attend' local service clubmeet-
ings to discuss the future of the four -hos-
pital organization.
"We're hoping to attend as many meet-
ings as possible. We're keen to go anytime,"
says Alliance CEO Andrew Williams..
Vision 2013 is the Alliance's plan for the
future, which includes the possibility of
establishing centres of specialty at each of
the four hospitals in Seaforth, Clinton, St.
Marys and Stratford, redistributing beds
to strengthen sites and to increase Strat-
ford's acute care capacity and assessing
the hours of operation at emergency de-
partments at St. Marys, Seaforth and
Clinton.
Vision 2013 also includes plans to reduce

With an aging board of direc-
tors that's been struggling for
at least 10 years, the Seaforth
Agricultural Society is desper-
ate for new directors and vol-
unteers at its annual general
meeting tonight (Wednesday,
Nov. 18).
Born out of the frustration
of burn -out and a lack of fresh
blood, past president Marie
Hicknell is asking the Seaforth
community an important ques-
tion - does the community of
Seaforth and area still want an
Agricultu ral Society and a. fall
fair?
"I'm the committee of one to
fill the slate of directors for our
annual meeting and I have no
idea who to approach to see if
they would be interested to
help the Agricultural Society,"
says Hicknell-Feeney.
"People have no idea of the
work the Agricultural Society
does and I would like to know
what the public feels. Are we
working our heads off for noth-
ing? Maybe nobody cares," she
says.
Hicknell-Feeney has placed
an ad in this week's Huron Ex-
positor asking the question and
providing her phone number -
527-2607 - and the Ag Society's
office number - 527-1321 - in
hopes of a response.
"If the community doesn't
support the fair, do we need a
fair? We're not folding but we're
not doing all of this work if no-
body appreciates it," she says.
Secretary -treasurer Betty
Jermyn says she shares Hick-
nell-Feeney's weariness about
