These information sessions will detail how interested proponents may apply through an Expression of Interest of up to $120,000 per unit to provide new, renovated or converted affordable housing in Huron County; or for potential new homeowners to participate in the Homeownership component where a maximum down payment of up to $19,679 per household is available for the purchase of a newly built home by qualifying households. Deere enthusiasts and anyone interested in farming history are invited to attended the John Deere Heritage Days on Aug. 8 and 9. The 1st Ontario Two -Cyl- inder Club is a antique farm tractor club dedicated to the green John Deere tractors. Heritage Days is the largest display of restored and un - restored John Deere tractors and equipment in Canada. This year the event is at the Chappel farm, located at RR 2 Staffa. Director Allen Stuart said the show moves around every year. Stuart has been with the club since day one when it formed in 1990. Heritage Days features a wide range of tractors, plows, combines - anything 'farming and Joht-Deere related. Stuart said their are field activities like plowing, thresh- ing, corn shelling, combining, as well as daily parades and tractor games on both days. "Heritage Days gives the members a chance to get to- gether and have some fun and show off their tractors," he said. Stuart said he was raised on John Deere. "It has been in my blood for a long time." The weekend will feature la- dies' programs, bingo, fashion shows, door prizes, kids' trac- tor pull, crafts, toy displays and vendors, memorabilia and literature and more, said Stuart. On Aug. 8 at 4:30 p.m. there is a pork barbecue. Tickets are $10 and are available in advance by calling 519-462- 2486. At 6 p.m. there will be an auction sale featuring John Deere items. "There is something for the whole family to enjoy," he said, adding, "We always order good weather for that weekend." "We are hoping Mother Nature is nice and that this is the best they have had so far." There is also a breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 8 to 11 a.m. and a church ser- vice on Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. The Mitchell Rotary Club will have a food booth there for the weekend. Free primitive camping is available for those wanting to take in the entire weekend's events. Stuart said there will also be a chainsaw wood carver at the event and the club will be raf- fling off a wood -carved John Deere as a fundraiser for the club.
