forth Seniors Tournament.
Back then; taking over the
reigns, golf course manager
at the Seaforth Golf Club,
Carolanne "CA" Doig said
that they immediately
changed the format of the
tournament.
Previously, the rules
entailed with a play your
own ball policy, Carolanne
said when a golfer reaches
senior status, they long for
team play --rather than
relying solely on their own
game.
"It's a lot less stressful, it's
more casual and it's easier to
get a hunch of guys," she said
last Friday a couple hours
after the tournament
concluded.
Partnered up, the front
nine was treated as a two-
man scramble, which means
both players finished each
hole by continuously hitting
from the best place their hall
landed.
The back nine finished
with a better ball contest,
this signifies a game of golf
where you play your own
ball, but mark the best
score.
All handicaps were taken
in account when adding up
the overall scores.
The winning team hailed
from Oshawa Ont.—Don
Ferguson and Kevin Ibbitson
shot a 63.
Shooting a 52 net, the low -
net winners were Rudy
Oppersman and Glen Skea
from Brighton Ont.
Throughout the day, 80
competitors played 18 holes
last Friday; it's an event that's
gradually growing stated
Carolanne, seeing how 74
competed the year before.
They were all served din-
ner with prizes at the end of
the day and were gone by
4 p.m.
