Celebrate Father's Day with a farm tour
Dear Editor:
Celebrate Father's Day this
year with taking your family
on a tour of seven local farms.
It is not often the public has
an opportunity to visit with
farmers and discuss their
farm operation. 'the farms for
the tour are located in the
Seaforth and Clinton areas.
Visits will include farms with
brown Swiss cows, longhorn
cattle, miniature horses, a
grape growing/wine
operation, Friesian horses,
switchgrass, and trees. This is
an opportunity to get first
hand exposure to specialized
farming operations.
On Sunday June 18 the
farms will receive visitors
from 1-4 p.m. Maps can be
picked up at noon at the
Seaforth Agriplex or at
Huron Tire in Clinton. A
minimum donation of SIO
per carload is suggested. The
money from this tour will

Creating awareness about murdered Aboriginal women
Dear Editor:
The sound of a Church
bell being rung draws our
attention. It can be to call
people to worship, to wel-
come the newly baptized, to
announce the newly mar-
ried, and to mark occasions
of community celebration or
mourning. For those who
have died, the bell is tolled.
During 2015, in remem-
brance of murdered and
missing Aboriginal women
in Canada, the National
Indigenous Anglican Bishop
Mark McDonald and The
Primate of the Anglican
Church of Canada, The Most
Rev. Fred Hiltz called for a
special ringing of church
bells across the country for
22 days from May 31—to
June 21, the National Abo-
riginal Day of Prayer. At that
time the churches of the
Anglican Parish of the Holy
Spirit, St. Paul's in Clinton
and St. Thomas in Seaforth
were participants. This year
on June 21, we will again be
ringing our church bells on
the hour from noon to 5
p.m. to remember the more
than 1100 murdered or
missing Aboriginal women.
To ring the bells is, first
and foremost, an act of
remembrance. Since 1980,
over 1,000 Aboriginal
women and girls have been
murdered and at least
100, have been classified by
the RCMP as missing under
suspicious circumstances.
To ring the bells is to pray
for the families of those who
have died or remain missing.
To ring the bells is to
stand in solidarity with
Indigenous communities in
their cries for increased
policing, protection and
emergency health care ser-
vices, for increased provi-
sion for safe houses and
programs for counselling
To ring the bells is to create
awareness and support of the
National Inquiry into Missing
and Murdered Indigenous
Women and Girls.
Listen for the bells in Clin-
ton & Seaforth on Wednesday
afternoon, June 21, 2017.
