Huron -Perth Catholic hosts tenth annual i°Stuff That Bus"
The Huron -Perth Catholic
District School Board is par-
ticipating in our tenth
annual system -wide service
learning project called "Stuff
That Bus"!
This project nurtures all
students to be leaders of
faith and social justice. Our
participation in "Stuff That
Bus" allows students, staff
and community members a
unique opportunity to
come together as a caring
community to support
those who are in need in
our counties. On Wednes-
day, April 26th, all school
communities will partici-
pate in a food drive
designed to collect food for
local chapters of the St.
Vincent de Paul Society.
The St. Vincent de Paul
Society in Stratford has
been serving the commu-
nity for over 30 years by
assisting and
helping families through
the generous giving of time
and energy of community
members primarily
through their weekly food
bank. In addition to the
food bank, this group also
organizes the Christmas
"Giving Tree"; sponsors
children to attend summer
camps, and assist those in
emergency situations.
In Goderich, the St. Vin-
cent de Paul Society has
been serving the community
since 1983. Some of the
resources that they offer to
the community include a
food bank, furniture, cloth-
ing Christmas hampers, as
well as, assistance with
heat, hydro and rent in
emergency situations. In
2013, this chapter opened a
second location at Parsons
Used Furniture.
We are thankful for the
gracious donations of school
Exhibit your art at the Blyth Gallery Community Show
Huron region art hobby-
ists, amateur crafters, pro-
fessional artisans and rec-
ognized visual artists are
invited to submit original
art in any media to the
Blyth Festival Art Gallery
for their annual non-juried
Community Show. The
exhibition provides a forum
for talented individuals to
gain exposure to a local
audience and maybe
achieve a career
breakthrough.
Regional artists are asked
to bring a maximum of two
pieces to the Gallery situ-
ated in the Blyth Memorial
Hall beside the Festival box
office on Saturday, June
10th between 9:00 am and
noon. An entry fee of $10.00
per piece is charged. The
work(s) will be included in
the exhibition.
Art must be original work
executed in the last two
years. Two-dimensional
pieces must be framed or
mounted, suitable for hang-
ing and not exceed 36" x
36" each (including frame).
Freestanding pieces may be
up to a maximum width of
36". Pedestals for three-
dimensional work will be
provided.
Anyone interested in
purchasing a work of art
will be directed to the artist.
No commission will be
charged. All art must
remain in the gallery for the
complete length of the
show. Pickup of artwork is
from 9 a.m. until noon on
Saturday, June 24th.
The exhibition will fea-
ture creations from dozens
of the Huron area's profes-
sional and hobby artists.
Included among the pieces
on exhibit will be a wide
range of media, from oil
paintings and acrylics to
photography, ceramics and
glass. Until the artists bring
in their creations, not even
the show's curator knows
exactly what will be shown.
The Community Show
2017 is sponsored by
Goderich Print Shop and
curated by Cora de Vries
and Cat O'Donnell. Mem-
bers of the public are
invited to view the works
free of charge from June
10th to June 23rd. The Art
Gallery is open during Blyth
Festival box office business
hours. For more informa-
tion and entry forms, please
