They played a physical
gritty game of puck; the
Huron EastCentenaires
showed us even in the clos-
est of contests, their deter-
mination conquers
opponents.
Not letting a few players
missing from the lineup con-
tour their destiny, the Cente-
naires' came one step closer
to passing a f ilestone in the
playoffs --the WOAA Senior
Finals.
Falling a couple points shy
of qualifying for the AA pool
playoffs, the 10-10 club is
looking to beat the Elora
Rocks in the A group.
Both teams squared off
Feb. 12 in Seaforth, being
down 2-1 in the beginning of
the opening period, the Cen-
tenaires were outplayed. But
they redeemed themselves
scoring three goals before
the first buzzer in less than
three mutes.
The second period ended
with each team scoring a
goal apiece, heading into
the third it was 5-3 for the
grc.eil and yellow. "then, the
Rocks turned up their vol-
ume of hockey by putting
two in the net -the game
was tied.
Luckily with about six
minutes left in the game, for-
ward Phil Aslin scored to
carve a 6-5 win in stone.
Both teams produced a
number of plays, resulting in
84 shots on goal split down
the middle.

Huron East Centenaires battled the Elora Rocks in the playoffs; both teams accumulated 42 shots on
goal apiece.
With a season compiled of
"ups and down," Tim
McNaughton, general man-
ager of the Centenaires is
impressed with his squad's
determination to win.
"The team never (quits),
throughout the season this
group of guys never gave up
and they showed that again
last night when Elora started
pushing," he said.
"As far as (the) next game
to ensure we stay in the win
column, we expect the guys
to come out a bit harder off
the start."
For game two, which is
Feb. 17 in Elora's home turf,
McNaughton said the
Centenaires must make a
few adjustments to taste vic-
tory -declaring puck control
to be key.
"To (win), we're going to
have to stay on our game
and cut back their available
space and of course bury
our chances when we get
them.»
