meeting resistance from their
ratepayers as property owners
research the draft Huron Natural
Heritage Plan. With buffer strips
added around the significant
natural heritage, features and
connecting links of patches,
thickets, fence lines, wind
brakes, wetlands and meadows.
Some properties will loose 50
per cent of cropland.
"Recommendations: all natural
heritage features in I luron County
should be maintained, restored or
enhanced. "Targets for natural
cover in Huron County should be
based on the sound ecological
principals. Minimum of 30 per
cent forest cover, Minimum of
10% wetland cover and 6% of
each subwatershed, and or 40 per
cent of historical watershed cov-
erage (which ever is greater).
Less than 10 per cent impervi-
ous cover. Minimum of 10 per
cent forest interior (>100m from
forest edge)."

Do you know anything about the Huron Natural Heritage Plan?
I recently attended the Grain Farmers meet-
ing at Holmesville. Two Huron County plan-
ners made a presentation, which I had, saw
before in Zurich on Oct. 27/16.
Many people at the GFO meeting had not
heard anything about this plan.
The plan is to take private property without
compensation. According to County hired
lawyer (Peter Pickfield) you have no private
property rights.

HNHP technical document of 117 pages.
Another, PDF HNHP Implementation Strat-
egy is shown. Basically, it's a summary book-
let. Best to read and study the large docu-
ment. Put it in a binder.
Also, look up the Provincial Policy State-
ment. In section 2.1.9 it reads the follow-
ing... "Nothing in policy 2.1 is intended to
