The council of Huron
East acknowledged three
past and present employ-
ees for their milestones and
day after day -year after year
of constant dedication to
the municipality.
In a few words, reading
from some notes, the
Mayor of Huron East,
Bernie MacLellan rightfully
so, accredited each person
December 20.
Sitting patiently in the
gallery of the council
chambers was Connie Mar-
ion, MacLellan considered
her to being one of the
"founding fathers" of
Huron East, seeing that she
had devoted 37 years of
employment, way before
Huron East amalgamated
from the town of Seaforth.
He then asked her to
come up and receive a few
BIA gift certificates that she
chose herself; the Mayor
said this choice alone
shows Marion's commit-
ment to the town.
"When I started 37 years

the municipality.
ago, I was on a typewriter,
then they brought in com-
puters, we've had a lot of
upgrades," said Marion
while holding back some
tears. "I loved every minute
of it, I was sure I would be
here until I'm 65 -years -old,
but I had to start that new
chapter."
"I had friends pass away
before 60, I thought nope
I'm not staying until 65, I
did love all my years here,
thanks again."
Next in line, retired Paul
Josling, chief building offi-
cial, who started doing
inspections for the munici-
pality in 1991. Apparently,
MacLellan said at one point
in time, he had been
responsible for duties of
Morris, Turnberry (before
they amalgamated), and
Blyth.
"It hit us hard when Paul
took ill, the bottom line
Paul had a great way about
him, he was soft with peo-
ple. But he always made
sure things were done,"
stated MacLellan. "He did a
great job at keeping council
informed and we miss
him."
