London Hunt and Country Club
stepped up purchasing 50 tickets
for $1,000.
The Hunt club has morethan
a passing interest in the tourna-
ment as Ken Doig is well known
around the club from his amateur
playing days and Canadian Tour
player Andrew Parr plays out of
London Hunt.
Lasf--"siunmer, Parr was in con-
tention to win the tournament
heading into the final round. The
Doigs are hoping the Parr connec-
tion will bring London golf fans to
Seaforth.
The Doigs are also hoping the
tournament connects with Huron,
Perth, Bruce and Grey county
residents as they can benefit from
purchasing $20 weekly tickets.
The tournament is giving half
the proceeds from weekly ticket
sales after prize costs — a ticket
includes admission all week and
a chance to win two days at the
Masters and other prizes -- to the
Gateway Rural Health Research
Institute, the first of its kind in
Canada. The centre is studying
why instances of stroke, diabetes,
depression and heart attacks are
higher in rural populations.
The Canadian Tour began its Ca-
nadian swing this week in Victo-
ria, B.C. with the $200,000 Times
Colonist Open, the first of eight
tournaments over a nine -week
stretch.
The Seaforth tournament sits in
a favourable position in attracting
players as it follows the Desjar-
dins Montreal Open is Aug. 20-23,
an event which attracts all the top
players. •
The Seaforth Country Classic is
followed by the $250,000 Canadi
an Tour Championship the :follow-
ing week in St. Catharines, which
closes out the season and- deter-
mines the final money list.
