It is great to have more daylight these last few weeks. Ah! such is winter in Huron County. Rev. John's sermon at Cavan United Church was titled "The Bible and Suffer- ing." Greeters and collectors were Carol and Francis Hunt. This service was at 11 a.m. with a lunch following the service. The annual meeting followed the lunch. The Board of Stewards held a meeting Winthrop on Thurs • ay evening. i pcoming events were discussed including the service , at the Ball Park in June. Kitchen renova- tions were again looked at. Come join the group for Coffee Time on Fridays at 10 a.m. Remember the Old Fashioned Box So- cial on Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at Cavan. Come out for an enjoyable time as well as good food. John and- Karen Braecker, Holly and Allison and Curtis McNichol have re - 80th anniversary coming up Snow - to give away real cheap. This is a winter we're not soon to forget. We are still holding our Friday night suppers and Comrade Cub and crew are having chicken wings once a month. Plan to attend the Dancing Bear Lodge night of food, entertainment and horse races on Feb. 14. You'll have fun. This summer, the branch will be celebrating its 80th anniversary on the Aug. 14 weekend with many functions going on all weekend. We will be sending out a newsletter to our members in regards to this event. Service Officer Randy Groundwa- ter will be at our Branch on Feb, 13 at noon. Anyone wishing to speak to him should contact Comrade Doug Jones. Our condolences go out to the family of Veteran Alvin Hoff and all members who have lost loved ones and to all mem- bers who are in hospital or sick at home, get well soon.
