"I'm not pointing fingers at any- one and I know how frustrating re- cruitment is. I just think it's time that 'everyone. makes sure we have a oak about the future of health- care," says Maureen Agar, the chair of the school council at 'Sea - Agar, who is also a member of the Seaforth Community Development Trust, says she hears a lot of con- fusion in the community about the various committees, foundations and bodies involved in healthcare in Seaforth and hopes to provide a flowchart clarifying "who is who and what is what." She says people need clarification about groups from the South West LHIN (Local Health Integration Network) which makes the finan- cial decisions about how provincial funding will be spent on healthcare in much of Southwestern Ontario forth District Hi h School before it to the LAC (Local Advisory Com - closed in 2002. -:{ ), which allows Seaforth rep- resentatives to make recommen- dations to the four -hospital Huron Perth Healthcare Alliances-' "A lot of people have no clie who to talk to and who to complain to. When 50 per cent of our provincial tax dollars go into healthcare, we have to wake up and make sure we have a say," she says. Agar says that while.' municipal council members are voted for ev- ery four years, she's not feeling as well represented by the hospital's LAC since members are appointed by the Alliance instead of the com- mun ty. "I've got friends on the LAC but are they being able to stand up for the community the way the com- munity wants?" she asks. Agar says that while she's not blaming anyone for the recent de- cision to close the ER from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. until a nursing shortage can be resolved, she's hoping an in- formed community can be helpful. "Ignorance may be bliss but knowledge is empowerment. If we could have a meeting of the com- munity every year, we could gain ideas of what could be improved and many minds could give, better foresight," she says. Agar is hoping to involve other community members. in organizing a community meeting for sometime, at the beginning of April. 11, ti NSW CONSTRUCTION - RsNOVATION8 AGRICULTURAL - RSRIDICATIAL 519.527-1538 FAX 527-2270 R.R.#1 Blyth Tarion Home Warranty Bupders 94"34 -24114112 AeriaI buckets 5Q-75 ft. e ilt stump removal Brush chipping •Complete clean-up •Lot Line clearing •Fully insured s •Free estimates =j 14 hr.
