Complicating the .matter is that while nurses who -graduated in the 1960s and '70s were generalists, to - 'day's grads are specialists who have their choice of jobs. "It's very rare to find a nurse who is comfortable working in both inpa- tient and emergency," said Williams. While 47 RNs have left the HPHA and 11 RNs have retired since May, 2007, Williams said the HPHA has interviewed 67 and hired 46 nurses. As well, 28 RPMs . have left the Put your mind at ease. Seaforth Community Hospital is currently looking for one fulltime ER nurse and three parttime ER nurses to reopen its emergency department's overnight shift. As well, the hos- pital is trying to recruit one full-time RN, on jobshare partner and three regular parttime nurses in the inpatient department. "We've had good suc- cess but it may not look like it because were. constantly in a state of said it's toughest to find part-time nurses: r Incentives the Alliance hopes to provide for nurses would include tuition assis- tance " hiring bonuses, referral bonuses and education funds for all RNs.
