Council discusses snowmobile complaint
After receiving a number of e-mails com-
plaining about snowmobiles driving through
Seaforth, Huron East council discussed at its
Nov 6 meeting if a sign should be posted.
"We've had a fair number of complaints
about snowmobiles on one street. Should we
put up a sign (banning snowmobiles on that
street) or leave it as it is?" asked Clerk -
Administrator Jack McLachlan. The
street in question is West William
Street.
But, councillors argued that snow
mobiles bring economic benefits to
town, buying gas and eating at local
restaurants.
"Snowmobiles are not a problem as
far as I'm concerned. They are very
courteous people and bring a lot of
money to town," said Seaforth Coun.
Joe Sterner.
He added that trail wardens who
patrol the snowmobile trails might
be helpful in warning anyone who is
not following the rules.
1r If'
Mayor Joe Seili added that most are very
responsible.
"It's the ones that aren't that are causing
the problems," he said.
Brussels Coun. David Blaney suggested
that complaints about noise and speeding
should be going to the police.
