While the four professional golfers
competing Friday in Seaforth dur-
ing a Canadian Tour skins game are
not yet household names, there
were plenty of autographs signed on
golf balls and hats for young fans.
Close to 150 fans came out Friday
to follow the golfers as the value of
each hole rose as high as $1,300
with a total purse of $5,000.
David Walker, 24, of Australia,
won the game with a total of $2,400,
followed by Stuart Anderson, 29, of
Strathmore, Alta., who won $1,500,
which was bumped up to $1,750
when a member of the Seaforth Golf
Club threw in an extra $250 for _
anyone who could shoot a birdie on
the last hole.
Scott Hawley, 29, of Ottawa, won
$600, while Eugene Smith, 28, of
Glen Ridge, New Jersey, won $500.
"There was not one guy shut out -
they. all won at least one skin and
they all had a really good time,"
said organizer Carolanne Doig, of
the Seaforth Golf Club.
Doig says that while Walker had
the advantage of knowing the
course, he didn't play as well as he
has in Seaforth on Sunday Walker.
shot a new course record of 59.
As well, she says all the golfers
had a chance t play at least one
round before the skins game.
"I think they were all nervous.
They're not used to playing in front
of big galleries and it was impres-
sive how many people came out to
watch,", she said.
Alan Zorgdrager, of Stratford,
brought his six-year-old son Trent to
Seaforth to watch sins game
and to get a few autographs.

"This is the first time Trent's seen
a pro golfer. I volunteered at the
Canadian Open quite a few times
but you don't get any closer to the
pros than this. I'm thrilled to be this
close to the action - we're going to
see a lot of nice shots," he said of
Friday's game.
