Habitat for Humanity Huron
County is right on schedule at their
build site in Hensall, according to
build co-chair Jerry Traquair.
"We're scheduled to finish the first
week of August," said Traquair. "We
started the second week of June."
Lois Hayter, board vice -chair, said
this is the third house they've built
in the county.
"We built one in Clinton, then last
year in Wingham," she said.
The organization has a goal of
building a home in every communi-
ty in the county.
"We're doing pretty well," said
Traquair of the Hensall build, not-
ing that all that's left is the dry
wall, parging, siding, soffit and fas-
cia and eaves troughs.
"The volunteers have been great,"
he said.
Traquair explained that the
Hensall Kinsmen have done a lot of
the work. The organization bought
the lot the house is being built on
and donated it. Many members are
also professional contractors who
have donated time and materials.
The house will belong to Jennifer
Walker, a single mother of two chil-
dren who lives in Zurich.

County recently received a
donation of a Bobcat from the
Ozimek family, owners of the
Seaforth Manor and
Queensway Residence.
The Bobcat had. been pur-
chased to help with renova-
tions and construction at the
Manor and the Queensway
that are now finished.
"We had this great machine
and wanted to donate it
where it would be put to good
use," said Ed Ozimek, presi-
dent, Provincial Long Term
Care in a release. "We admire
Habitat for Humanity's mis-
sion and goals, and we are so
happy to be able to support
such a worthy cause."
Habitat will use the Bobcat
for landscaping and next year
will convert the machine into
a forklift to be used in the
organization's ReStore.
Traquair explained that
while they don't have a site
for the building yet, the
ReStore will be a central loca-
tion to supply all the Habitat
contractors in Huron County
with used and donated build-
ing products and appliances.
Habitat plans to build in
Goderich in 2008.
