"We were just driving through Seaforth and we saw the sign. We liked the golf course, the town and the rec hall that's going to be built," he says. Already Legion mem- bers in Cambridge, Tom says they will also probably join the Seaforth Legion. Seaforth Lions Club president Bill Teall says he's excited to have two new recent members, Hugh being one of them. "We haven't had a lot of growth in our membership in the last few years and it's absolutely encourag- ing to have new members helping us with our projects," says Teall. Seaforth BIA president Danica McNichol says she's been hearing from a number of local merchants that they're seeing Bridges residents as new customers. Merchants selling clothing, hardware, groceries and satellite dishes are seeing new faces, as are services like hairdressing. "Everyone is seeing some new neighbours and they're utilizing the downtown. There's some excitement that we're starting to see the affect of Bridges and we're hoping it's an indication of things to come," says McNichol. "We'd like to see that golf cart path get going - there's an interest in anything that makes it easier to come downtown," she says. Hugh Bracken, who has already begun attending meetings of the Seaforth Lions Club, buys his daily paper at the GT Mini Mart during his morning trek into Seaforth.
