4-H club conducts meetIm,
at Van Egmond House
The third meeting of the
Clinton One Heritage 4-H
Club was conducted from
the Van Egmond House in
Egmondville.
Pat Saundercock had
members sit in a small
shed outside that was
modeled after a carriage
house that was originally
on the Van Egmond farm.
There, Pat gave a history
of the family and of the
house that is still there to
this
day.
Then,
moving
into the house, Pat gave a
tour of every room from:
Madame Van Egmond's
room to the servant's
room. In each room, Pat
pointed out artifacts that
would have been used by
the family and she even
told some ghost stories. ._
Having
finished
the tour,
we moved
back into the Carriage
House, where we contin-
ued our meeting. There,
president Tabatha Taylor
had us say the 4-H pledge
and the minutes were _.
read from last week's
meeting by secretary
Heather Gibson. Bev

Huron Strings perform for
residents during Halloween party
Residents of Maplewood Manor
welcomed Grade 5 students from. St.
James School who will make month-
ly visits with their buddies. Creepy,
crawly spiders were made in prepa-
ration for Halloween.
Another newfound friend "Buffy"
will also be making regular visits
with residents. Buffy and her
owner, June Johns, brought smiles
to many as she was introduced to,
residents.
Everyone always looks forward to
sing-alongs and musical afternoons
held with Bill Gibson, Carol Carter,
Marjory Papple and Art and
Eleanor Horst.
Church services for the month of
October were held with Joan
Stewart, Pastor Hildebrand and
Pastor Kennedy. A communion ser-
vice was held with Rev. Huberts.
Ladies from St. James also visited
to serve residents communion.
It seems there are few questions
that stump our residents during
trivia sessions. Cribbage, crafts,
bingo, crokinole and exercises are
other activities that residents enjoy.
Pampering was the order of the
day when Margaret Whitmore and
Lois Hodgert came to give mani-
cures.
The month ended with a very live-
ly Halloween party with the Huron
Strings. Residents all arrived at the
party in full costume which caused
a lot of laughs for everyone. It was
great to have Joseph Flynn join the
musicians for our party.
