against spending the municipality's
money on the beef plant.
"That should have all been private
investment," he said.
Joslin said, however, he is in
favour of the municipality buying
land to attract industry, which is
"badly needed in the whole riding."
Describing himself as a small "C"
conservative, Joslin said- he's in
favour of creating an economic cli-
mate.friendly to business.
He added he'd be in favour of the
deamalgamation of Grey if "a solid
push" could be made. But, he added
that since the current Liberal gov-
ernment has broken so many
promises, he's be surprised if it stood
by its promise not to stand in the
way of deamalgamation.
Grey candidate Orval Bauer told
ratepayers that he's seen a lot of
changes during his 40 years living in
Grey but is hearing more farmers
complaining recently.
"It's time to have things sent to
council to be heard. My goal is to
hear people and then serve what
they have to say. A small thing can
get to be a large thing if it's not
looked after at the right time," he
said.
Grey candidate Dale Newman said
he's lived in Grey 30 years and has a
desire to get back into municipal
politics after serving on Grey
Township council for three years
before amalgamation.
"All I can promise you is I will
work hard on your behalf and sup-
port fair and efficient spending on
all the services we require," he said.
Incumbent Alvin McLellan said
after being on council for the past 15
years both in Huron East and in
Grey, he likes to bring a common-
sense approach to council.
He praised council for its delayed
collection of taxes from farmers and
its success at keeping Grey's taxes
the lowest in Huron County.
McLellan said he wants to see
council continue hard surfacing
roads in Grey and participate in the
care of the community halls in the
municipality.
"We all work hard but there's too
much week left at the end of our pay
cheques. I like to get as much out of
our tax dollars as we can," he said.
