Huron Expositor, 2006-11-01, Page 6Page 6 November 1, 2006 • The Huron Expositor Opinion CEMEIZEITD Poppy campaign will be held Sunday, Nov. 5 To the Editor, For many years the people of Seaforth and area have been most generous in contributing to the annual poppy campaign of Branch 156 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Funds which the public con- tribute are held in trust in a sepa- rate account and do not form any part of branch finances. The amount collected in the 2005 cam- paign was $6525.87 with expendi- tures during the year totalling $5167.02. The poppy trust fund- is a reserve from which assistance can be given to needy veterans and their dependents and the widows and children of deceased person- nel. We trust that local citizens will continue to lend their usual strong support to the 2006 poppy campaign by wearing a poppy and being receptive to the Legion member knocking on your door during the poppy drive to be held on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. Your donations will be appreciated. Rick Fortune Poppy Chairman Legion Branch 156 November 13'" ELECT JIM FLOYD COUNCILLOR OF HURON EAST alb Optimists' Halloween party very impressive, says local parent To the Editor, I would like to compliment the Optimist Club of Seaforth on their annual successful Halloween party. My children have attended three years now, but this year is the first year I have attended due to having a three-year-old to supervise. Grandma has always taken and supervised the others. I was very impressed with every- thing they had to offer and just the movement in the hall was so alive. News It takes a lot to put an event like this on. There were a lot of mem- bers and student volunteers to ensure its success. Hats off to all who worked so hard on preparations for this great event. Keep up the good work, it's amazing. Thank you. Seaforth Community Hospital trust chair Ron Lavoie told the Seaforth Local Advisory Committee (LAC) that while the FHT is using a doc- tor's suite at the clinic to accommodate the nurse practitioner hired by the FHT, he's heard the FHT will need 11,000 square feet to operate. LAC chair Tony Vanden Hengel asked if the physio- therapy room at the hospital would be large enough to accommodate the FHT but Lavoie guessed that room is only 1,000 square feet. "The (hospital) trust is pre- pared to have discussions around the building but we need to understand the requirements better. The question is can they operate in a decentralized fashion," said Lavoie. / J. FRITZLEY AUTO REPAIR REPAIRS TO ALL MAKES - BIG OR SMALL!
