Rev. John conducted the service. Rev. Jane Kuepfer, a former minister at Cavan and Northside, was the guest speaker. Her topic was "Anniversary - a time to look back; a time to look ahead and a time to reflect." She likened the church as a living organism - growing and changing - like the trem- bling aspen tree which sends out a root system from which other aspensgrow individually but are still connected to the source tree. The musical portion of the service as well as spe- cial numbers were provid- ed by "Jubilation," a musi- cal group from Clinton. Next Sunday, Cavan United is back to its regu- lar time of service -9:30 Payments due for senior trip by end of month Dublin and area are deeply sad- dened by the death of Harold Meagher who passed away peacefully at. his R.R. 1, Dublin home on Thursday, Oct. 19. Sympathy to his wife Martina (Stock) Meagher and his family. Friends were received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, Mitchell, on Sunday, Oct. 22 with mass of the Christian burial on Mon. Oct. 23 at St. Patrick's Church, Dublin, with Rev. Mark Poulin celebrant. Burial in S t . Patrick's Cemetery. These are the things that last. by Dorothy Dillon Inn celebrates 175 years Jennifer Hubbard similin Ontario's longest run- ning inn - the Little Inn of Bayfield - is preparingto celebrate 175 years of his- tory this month. Owners Patrick and Gayle Waters will be shar- ing that historical charm with visitors and area res- idents alike during an open house Oct. 29, from 2-3 p.m. A classic country meal and special anniversary room rates will also be offered. Baron DeTuyll, one of the Bayfield's original developers, purchased the village coach stop in 1832. Since its first expansion in 1845, the building has undergone significant changes. As a designated heritage building, features of the inn can still be dated back to the mid -1800s. Known for many years as. the Commerical Hotel, the inn was owned by many different people, before the Waters pur- chased the inn from a group of local doctors in 1980. They renamed it the Little Inn of Bayfield, as it was called in the 1950s. Plans are underwayfor the annual Sawmill Rd., Machinery Parade on Dec. 2. A recent get-together was held at the Blyth Inn for Mary Lou Driscoll. The event was to recognize her 45 years of service to, Huronview and Huronlea. About 75 present and for- mer employees attended. Vicki Campbell and Diane Howson attended a Psych - K workshop in London on the weekend, a seminar on finding ways to tap into the subcon- scious to change your beliefs about yourself.
