Community supports Seaforth hospital radiothon
fundraising with challenges, donations..

Some of the local challenges

councilor to pledge one meeting per
diem, a challenge by Huron -Perth

give $150 to their respective hospi-
tals and a challenge by Frances
Teatero, of Seaforth, to all hospital
auxiliary members to donate to
their hospitals.
As well, Seaforth hospital admin-
istrator Mary Cardinal challenged
any clinical directors in the Alliance
to donate $100, Mary and Tony
Vanden Hengel challenged other
realtors to donate to their hospitals,
Bill and Connie Devereaux chal-
lenged Avon Maitland District
School Board employees to donate
and Joyce Ribey challenged all unit
clerks at donate $100 to the hospi-
tal.
Don and Sheila Morton chal-
lenged all students of Seaforth
Public School and the high schools
to donate $5 each to the hospitals,
Mery and Maureen Agar challenged
all members of Rob's Gym to donate
and Debbie and Glen Haney chal-
lenged anyone who's used the emer-
gency room in the past month to
donate $5.
The St. James Catholic .Women's
League challenged all other CWLs
to match Seaforth's $100 donation
and McGavin's Farm. Equipment
,challenged all farm businesses to
make a donation.
Lavoie said the challenges, while
hard to track, are successful since
people do respond to them when

While last year's goal was
$25,000, last year's campaign even-
tually raised $46,000.
Lavoie said the Christmas cam-
paign, with a goal of $30,000, will
begin with the , tree -lighting ceremo-
ny on Nov 26.
"With that, we should be over the
half -way mark to our Phase I goal
for the Seaforth PACS project," he
said.
