Jim Floyd running for McKillop
councillor in Huron East
Susan H u n d e r t m a r k
Jim Floyd wants to be one
of the new faces on Huron
East council.
"I have thought about run-
ning for council for several
years but with Sharon
(McClure) and Ferg (Kelly)
representing the ward so
well, I decided not to run in
past years," says the
McKillop resident of 33 years.
Floyd, who has sat on the
board of the Seaforth
Agricultural Society for 20
years and the McKillop
Mutual Insurance board for
four years, says he wants to
make Huron East more
attractive to industry and
keep young people employed
in the area.
Jim Floyd
"But, I want -to see what
they (councillors) have tried
before I give my ideas," he
says.
Floyd says he'd also like to
find ways to get ratepayers
from all wards to work
together.
"It's coming but we have to
work harder at it. We're all
one big 'community now," he
says of cooperation between
Huron East's five wards.
Floyd owned a business in
Seaforth for 15 years, during
which time he sat on the
Seaforth Business
Improvement Area (BIA). He
currently runs J and E Signs
out of his home.
Floyd also ran unsuccess-
fully for Northeast Huron
school trustee for the Avon
Maitland District School
Board in 2000.
Floyd, Bill Siemon and
Andrew Flowers are compet-
ing to fill two McKillop posi-
tions on council.
Two Huron East men get 12-hou

Two Huron East men were among four in
Huron County who lost their driver's licences
for 12 hours over the weekend.

Bright spots for
Leafs will be few
this season
From Page 1
early last season after. a less -than -
stellar 8-19 start.
Luckily, we have Jean-Sebastien
Aubin and Mikael Tellgvist ready to
go when the time comes - and I do
feel it will come.
Surely the Maple Leafs will have
their bright spots this season, like
their 6-0 win over Ottawa in Game 2
of the season, yet I worry these
games will be few and far between.
"It's only one game."
Maybe, but doesn't 1967 feel like a
long time ago?
