kitchen, it's easy to
see how 15 -year-old
Sasha Tisbouk has
benefitted from his
visits to Canada over
the past seven years.
Visiting as part of
the Children of
Chernobyl in Huron
County program from
Belarus since he was
eight, Sasha's
English has only the
slighest hint of a
Russian accent.
And, while the ben-
efits to his health
from the yearly six-
week break in
Canada from the
`fadiation caused by
the Chernobyl reac-
tor explosion 20 years
ago are subtle, he
says he can feel
them.
"I have more ener-
gy when I go back
home," says Sasha.
"And, your mom
says she sees a differ-
ence too when you
get home," adds his
host mom Lynn.

this year with memo-
rial church services,

the country's presi-
dent to villages that
were most affected by
the event.
• The children visit-
ing Huron County
this year are not that
interested in the
anniversary.
"Maybe I was not
paying attention,"
says Sasha.
Lynn explains that
for the children who
weren't even born
when the nuclear
plant accident hap-
pened, it's just a part
of their everyday life.
"The interpreter
Lena, who's 26 - for
her generation,
they're more aware.
She says some of her
friends have had
some trouble conceiv-
ing (children) because
of the radia-
tion," says
Lynn.
However,
Sasha adds
