Successables gets Sports Illustrated exposure
Jeff H e u c h e r t
When it rains, it pours - at least
that's how the saying goes, but it's
hardly the case for Carolanne Doig.

appeared recently in Sports
Illustrated magazine, where her
company, Successables Inc., which
specializes in making rain gear for
golfers, was featured.
And Doig says she is enjoying all
of the benefits that come from the
North American exposure.
"Things are going very well.
Having that article in Sports
Illustrated has increased our sales,"
she says.
"A lot of people had never heard of '.
us, but since (the article), we've
been getting great feedback."
While maybe amateur golfers are
just now learning of Doig's Seaforth-
based company, it's certainly noth-
ing new to the pros.
"Eighty-seven per cent of the PGA
Tour uses the Seaforth rain hood.
Everyone from Tiger Woods and
Phil Mickelson to Annika
Sorenstam," she says.
Successables Inc., which has spe-
cialized in producing quality rain
gear for nearly 14 years, has been
expanding their catalogue along the
way.
Today, in addition to their original
and most popular product, the
Seaforth rain hood, they offer rain
gear apparel, accessories and new

last year, a full golf bag cover with
double shoulder straps.
"If it rains when you're
out golfing with the
pros, they're almost all
using our products,"
says Doig proudly.
Doig got her begin-
nings when she was
hired by a company
specializing in rain
gear to design a golf
bag cover, but after a
few years, went her
own way. With the help
of her brother Kenny,
who is a PGA Tour
caddy, she was able to
distribute the covers to
tour players.
And there's been no
looking back since.
When she's not touring and
attending PGA and LPGA tours or
merchandise
shows, Doig works as the general
manager of the Seaforth Golf and
Country Club and as President of
Successables Inc, which takes calls
out of Doig's Seaforth home.
Doig has also been working the
past few years on expanding her
company to all corners of the world.
"We're now shipping to
Japan and we have
new distributors in
Norway," she says as
an example.
Down the road, Doig
says she's hoping to
add a waterproof hat,
which she says "is still
in its prototype stages
right now" to her cata-
logue.
She's also working
with a consultant in
Chicago on the compa-
ny's marketing, noting,
"We're going to be tak-
_} ing things in a new
direction."
Having created a successful
company from scratch and toured
with the biggest names in golf,
Doig's greatest accomplishment may
be she says, that "They all know
where Seaforth is now."
And, even if the saying is true and
it does pour once in awhile, you can
bet Carolanne Doig is well pre-
pared.
`If it rains when
you're out

almost all

products,'—
