`Quest for Heroes' reading
program coming to Seaforth
Huron County children are
invited to participate in a
"Quest for Heroes" during
this summer's Huron County
Library reading program.
For seven weeks from the
first week in July to mid-
August, children aged four to
12, will be encountering
super heroes and villains, fig-
ures of historical importance
and even the unsung heroes
of Huron County, through sto-
ries, contests, crafts and
games.
In Seaforth, the reading.
program will be offered on
Mondays from 2:45 to 3:30
p.m. for ages four to six and
from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. for
ages seven to 12.
In Brussels, the program
will be offered on Tuesdays
from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Natalie Vander Burgt is
back for her third year as a
literacy coordinator and will
be joined by Airy McConnell,
a new addition to the reading
club team.
The summer reading pro-
gram is made possible by
grants from Young Canada
Works in Heritage
Institutions, a youth employ-
ment initiative of the
_Department of Canadian
Heritage and the Summer
Career Placements Program
of Human Resources and
Skills Development Canada
which fund the coordinators'
salaries.
TD Bank Financial Group
is a major sponsor of the pro-
gram across the province in
cooperation with the Toronto
Public Library, which plays a
large organizational role.
The reading program also
relies heavily on ` the support
of all of Huron County's
libraries and the generous
donations of many publishing
companies, local businesses
and service clubs.
For more information or to
register, please visit your
local library or e-mail Natalie
Vander Burgt or .: Amy
