Huron Expositor, 2006-06-07, Page 27St. James junior boys win B division at two -pitch tournament St. James School's junior boys won the B divi- sion of the Huron -Perth District Catholic School Board's two -pitch tournament, held recently in Wingham. The junior boys (Grades 5 and 6) won the first three games but lost the final game to St. Mary's, Goderich. The junior girls finished fourth with a record of one win andthree losses. winning against St. Joseph's School in Clinton 9-3 but losing against St. Mary's, Goderich and Sacred Heart, Wingham. Winning two games out of three were Neil Beuerman (lead), Dennis Schmidt (sec- ond), Peter McFalls (vice) and Jurgen Fessler (skip). They will now advance to the Provincial Playdowns in Windsor, Saturday, June 10. Although the third game was played between showers they managed to defeat the St. Marys rink of Chris Johnston (lead), Rob Truax (second), Larry McClellan (vice) and Jamie McClellan (skip). The ladies' rink of Carol Carter (lead), Carol Fuller (second), Maureen Thompson (vice) and Joanne bugler (skip) will also advance to Windsor Playdowns. In out -of --town tournaments, two men's teams were in St. Marys last Wednesday at the Bert ` Wydeven Memorial Tournament. Exeter had a mixed pairs on Friday and is hosting a men's pairs (today) Wednesday, June 7 at 10 a.m. Seaforth Lawn Bowling club is hosting a mixed pairs at the Seaforth Greens on Friday, June 9 at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 , a.m. sponsored by the Bridges of Seaforth with lunch includ- ed and hosted by the Bridges of Seaforth after the first games.
