St. Anne's senior boys rugby team
continued its undefeated season last
week with two wins at the Western
Ontario Secondary School Athletic
Association (WOSSAA) champi-
onships.
The Eagles recorded wins over
South Huron (40-0) and Wingham's
F.E. Madill (12-5) during the May 29
Huron -Perth championships to claim
a spot at WOSSAA on May 31: in
Aylmer.
On Wednesday St. Anne's dominat-
ed play over Woodstock Collegiate,
winning the semi-final game 39-5.
Trys were scored by Patrick
Miltenburg (3), Rhys Plant, Tom
VanOsch, John Dalton and Mike
Lambert. Corey Arbour kicked for two
conversions.
"We had a pretty easy time of it in
the first game," Ditner said.
"Thames Valley is a little weaker
when it comes to rugby. It's tradition-
al at WOSSAA to have the two
Huron -Perth teams make it to the
finals:"
With a hard fought 5-0 win against
Huron Park - of Woodstock F.E.
Madill also moved on to face St.
Anne's in the finals.
Phil Van Raay, Billy Brand, and

Shawn Van Bakel scored trys in the
15-7 win, which Ditner called "a
strong forward game."
"We controlled the ball well with our
forwards," he commented. "We had
the lead at the half and scored our
third try in the second. Madill didn't
score until the last play of the game
when the boys let their guard down a
little."
The team will now compete at the
Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic
Association (OFSAA) in Markham
June 7-9.
Seeded 10th out of 16 teams, the
local squad: will play their first game
against seventh ranked team Eden
high school, of St. Catharines.
Each team is: guaranteed two
games. Teams that win the first game
will go to the championship division
and the losing teams will go to the
consolation division. From there
teams must win to stay in the tourna-
ment.
St. Anne's went 0-3 — with two very
close games of 10-5 and 7-5 - at
OFSAA in 2005, and Ditner was opti-
mistic about this year.
"Our goal is to win our first game an
go to the championship side," he said.
"It'd be great to upset the seventh
place team and to be considered
among the top eight in the province
would be excellent."
Ditner added a
