Lack -of public
discussion
trou ling
in FHT planning
Has it all been a tempest in a teapot? Or, has all
the recent controversy surrounding the family
health team (FHT) for Seaforth been based on solid
concerns? And, as taxpayers, will we ever know?
As the business plan for the Seaforth FHT (with
satellite offices in surrounding communities in
Huron. County) was expected to be submitted to the
province for approval yesterday, the community was
no more knowledgeable about its contents than
s torted. to be asked is are th

Huron East's concerns about location centre
around the fact that an accompanying provincial
grant for $595,000 began a series of healthcare
related initiatives in Seaforth, giving students
opportunities to experience a taste of medical
careers and creating a more attractive climate for
potential recruits in the healthcare field.
Seaforth's hospital, medical centre, the
Healthkick initiatives and a. FHT all come together
create a pretty neat package for the community.
But, because none of the planning or discussion
was ever held m a public forum, it's tough to know
t the threats actually'have been.
It remains 'baffling and troubling that when dis-
cussing a publicly -funded new organization among
member s of a steering committee who are all paid
in one way or another by the taxpayer -funded
province, the discussion could not be held during.
public meetings.

It's never too late to take
time to appreciate our moms
Although Mother's Day
has come and gone, this
email that came my way
this past week is just too
good to set aside for
another year.
And, it's never too late
to take time and apprecia-
tion all that our mother's
did, and continue to do,
for us.
My mother taught me about....
1. RELIGION
"You better pray that will come out of the car-
pet."
2. MY ROOTS
"Shut that door behind you. Do you think you
were born in a barn?"
3. TIME TRAVEL
"If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock
you into the middle of next week."
4. LOGIC
"Because I said so, that's why."
5. MEDICAL SCIENCE
"If you don't' stop crossing your eyes, they are
going to freeze that way."
6. HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT
"If you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never
grow up."
7. THE CIRCLE OF LIFE
"I brought you into this
world and I can take you
out."
8. OSMOSIS
"Shut your mouth and eat
your supper."
9. CONTORTIONISM
"Will you look at that dirt
on the back of your neck."
10. STAMINA
"You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone."
11. WEATHER
"This room of yours looks as if a tornado went
through it.
12. HYPOCRISY
"If I told you once, I've told you " a million
times.` Don't exaggerate.
13. BEHAVIOUR MODIFICATION
"Stop acting like your father."
14. ENVY
"There are millions of less fortunate children
in this world who don't have wonderful par-
ent like you do."
15. My favourite - JUSTICE
"One day you'll have kids and I hope they
turn out just like you."
I spent half the
war in Burma son.
I think I know a
Burmese Tiger Trap
when I see one.
