and staff member.
Because he buys up to 400 cards
himself, family members often give
him Christmas cards as a present to
send to others.
"I had to lay off a little bit last
year for . the Christmas cards
because I was a little short on cash,"
he says.
As well, he also runs errands for
staff and residents, buying lottery
tickets and submarine sandwiches
downtown.
He also bowls in the Thursday
night league at Starlight Bowling,
acting as treasurer for the league.
Ryan says he's honoured by the
award.
"It's an achievement. I plan to put
it up in my bedroom," he says.

"If I had a dollar for all the volun-
teer hours I do, I'd be a wealthy
man by now," he chuckles.
Ryan's volunteer work also
extends into the Seaforth communi-
ty with the Happy Citizens at the
Seaforth Legion and fundraising for
the Alzheimer Society.
"I walk for Walk for Memories
until I get tired. And, I raised over
$400 for the Alzheimer Society last
year," he says, adding he's been an
Alzheimer volunteer since the soci-
ety formed in Huron.
He is probably best known for
