until the ceremony had begun.
Funny enough, Jason never ques-
tioned why he couldn't move his arms
or bend over but did notice that
Lindsay was swimming in his tux.
We had planned on having a won-
derful outdoor wedding in Bingham
Park but come the big day, it was
pouring rain so we had to quickly
move to the Anglican Church. Of
course, everyone coining from
Toronto and further couldn't find the
church on time. Everyone got there,
eventually.
After the ceremony, at the recep-
tion, our emcee lost his notes and list
of events so he had to wing it.
And the wonderful vegetable dips I'd made, five to
be exact, remained in my fridge at home, never to be
used. Plain veggies anyone?
But with everything that went wrong, a lot went
as planned and it turned out to be the most memo-
rable day ever. Since then, Chad and I have bought a
house and...

While we were dating, Clayton
often asked me how I would like to
be proposed to, should he ever take
that leap. So, I compiled a vision of
my fairytale engagement.
The lengthy list included being
whisked away to a quiet, secluded
spot, greeted by wine, flowers,
romantic music, a roaring fire and
a lovely ring.
But one of the top criteria
required to elicit a positive
response to his question was to
have asked my father's permission as in days of old
and simply out of respect.
On Saturday, January 15, Clayton rented a seclud-
ed cabin in the woods near Aylmer, filled it with
long-stemmed roses and romantic music, poured
some wine and lit a fire.
As we sat together, enjoying our solitude, he
turned and asked me to marry him.
I thought he was kidding at first, but knew he was
serious when he pulled out a ring and got down on
his knees and, with tears in his eyes, asked again.
First, I said yes, then I asked when he'd had time
to go to Goderich to talk with my Dad, John.
Apparently, while he did everything else on my
list, he had missed (or avoided) that step. The next
day, we quickly headed to Goderich to have a chat
with John.
Once his permission was secured, we shared the
news with his family and began to wonder how to
tell everyone else.
But I guess we just did that.
