Children lined up outside Seaforth Public school Oct. 12 to take part
in a province -wide fire drill. Over 2100 schools, and over one million
people participated. The goal was to see if they can set a world
record for the largest fire drill. Organizers won't know for at least a
couple of months if they were successful.
Horticultural Society takes a look at gardens
• from Kitchener -Waterloo area at meeting

Horticultural
Society met Oct. 12
at 7:30 p.m. at
Northside United
Church.
Heather McLean introduced our
speaker, Jim St. Marie who showed
slides of gardens around Waterloo,
Kitchener and Elmira.
They were beautiful, all flowers
and hardly any lawn. He also
showed pictures of mailboxes, some
very interesting including a John
Deere tractor, a turkey and many
others.
Margaret DeJong, vice president
took the chair in the absence of
Janny Streutker. Bea Stoll read the
minutes of the
September meet-
ing.

Finnigan gave the
treasurer's report.
We made $175
from our booth at
Ciderfest.
Margaret reported that she
thought Dr. Whitman's tree at the
hospital had died. We are to wait
until spring and if it does not come
back we will replace it.
Forms were passed around to put
down our volunteer hours. Tickets
for the November turkey dinner
were on sale for $11.
Door prizes were won by Olave
Little, Ron Murray, Ilene Carter,
Eleanor Horst, Marlyne Norman
and Elly Schoonderwoerd.
