The Exeter Flax mill, owned and
operated by the Onitaria Flax Co. for
a number (of yearst has been purc'has-
•ed by Mr. Owen Geiger of Hensall.
The, Ontario. Flax Co. had decided to
sell the property, ankhad it not been
sold it would have. remained idle dur-
ing the coming .summer and probab-
ly longer if they did not find a buyer.
Fortunately for Exeter the deal has
been put through as. the business has
been progressive and active formally
years, furnishing employment for
many men, as well as being a baraelfit
to the farmers of the su,raolthadiing
commuinitain funallsing land for the
gnawing of flax. Mr. Jos. Davis has
been manager of the mill here, and
the Company speaks of his manage-
ment in the highest terms, they hav-

Word has been, received here of the
death of Henry Moir, of San Diego,
California, son of the late George Moir
a farmer publisher of Exeter, he haw-
ing published the Exeter Reflector.
LANDMARK PASSES.
The. windstaran having partially des-
troyed Bethany Melthadist Church, 4
miles east of Eteter, about aarrsonth
ago, the con.gregetiont, which. had . bean
:reduced to ten. or twelve families, de,
cided not to rebuild, and on 1Satu,r-
clay last the building was sold by pub.-
lic auction. Mr. Robt Robinson se-
cured the brick, floors, and wainscaat-
ill-4r, while lair, W,. A. Balkwilil bou.glat
mast of the balance of woodwork, the
windows and porch. This church was
built En, 1868, fifta ftpur vicars ago,
and at least. two, Messrs. John kCann
and Ulna.. Passmores of the. present;
members, were of the congregation)
when, it was first opened. Talus, one
by one, the outlying. sanalfer churches
are passing. Older ,catizens of this
dIstriet remember Th3n, there were
several small xurai churhces in the
itnmediate neighborhood of Ex,'eter.
