SOLDIER HERO ].'ASSES.
Major Isaac Hetherington, :ALC., of
Goderich, who was last year the Dis-
trict ,Deputy Grand Master of South
Huron Masonic District, died an Sat-
urday •in Byron Military Hospital. He
had been a patient in the hospital
since October. Death was due to tu-
bercular meningitis, contracted .jn
France, where he served with dis-
tinction, gaining the niil,ittary cross, His
wife and three, thi1dren survive. The
funeral took place in Goderich Tues-
day with military littonors•,

A. quiet but pretty wedding was
solemnized at Caven Presbyterian
Manse on Monday morning at eleven
o'clock, when Miss Stella May Gillies

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Harvey, the

DEATH OF A. J. McDONELL,

demise of Mr, Allan J. McDonell. He
was; known to and belayed by all,, ,and
bis familiar face w;i11 be much missed
by all, The late Mr. McDioaell was
rnat of the robust type, and from time
to time had endured severe spells of
sicknes^ . About five rnonths ago he
was: stricken down with an attack of
rheumatic po isoning and for the past
four and a half months had been con-
fined to Dr. Hyndmares hospatal,
At different times he gave out hope
of recovery, but for the past week lax
tent days it was, evlsient to his friends
and relati've.s, who, viait,ed. him That the
last ,summons could not much longer
be delayed, notwithstanding the very
hest uuedica'l skill, careful nursing and
kindly attention, Just before midnight
pin Thursday, with out a monien1 s
wan -ming, and without a struggle .the
curtain, was wrung down on his brave
and kindly life, _ The lite Mr. Mc-
Donell was born in Exeter, being a span
of the late A• 1r. and Mrs, John McDon-
ell, and was one. of a family ,of :ten
children, seven of whom survive-ivliss

ing of town, Mr, John McDonell of
Hensall., but who is at present in. At-
lantia City; Georgia, in very poor
health; Charles, . f Hetisall; Mrs.
(Judge) Dickson of Goderich, and Mrs.
A. E, Bennett of Saska;taani, Sask.
At cue time the deceased was a part-
ner with the late. Wm, Bawden, in the
