The Horticultural Society held
their regular monthly meeting in the
Public Library on Wednesday' even-
ing the 14Th inst. The principle
business was receiving the report of
the Park Committee who with the
Property Contrnnittee of the Town
Council had made a survey of the
parks of the village. The recommen-
dations which were heartily endorsed
by the society suggested special ef-
forts in improving Central Park by
filling, levelling and planting trees,
shrubs and flowers. Around Victoria
Park a cinder driveway is to be at-
tempted on which cars can be parked
at any public meetings. At Riverside
Park fencing is recommended to keep
out the cattle that have been wand-
ering through it. The Society has
been greatly encouraged by action of
a number of citizens who have with-
out solicitation, offered good sub-
scriptions for the carrying on of the
work of beautifying the town. Two
of the latest of these are $50 from
Mr. S. M. Sanders, President of the
Canning Factory, for tagging trees
and general work and an offer of a
prize for the best kept lawns or gar-
dens by Mr, Jno, Taylor, ex -Reeve
of Exeter.
