esster-::.-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Brooks
widow of the late John. Brooks, wbo
'formerly resided here, but left these
parts many years ago. The funeral.
took place at Owasso, Mich. She is
survived by a large family.
CELEBRATED GOLD.bN WEDDING
A pleasant picture, of happy old age
was presented by Mr. and Mrs. John
Johns at their golden wedding anniv-
ersary on Tuesday, March 20, when
they receiVed many congratulations and
good wishes from the relatives whd
assembled at their home Albert street,
Exeter, to celebrate the joyous oc-
casion. Among these present were
Rev. Ball, brother-in-law, and Mr,
and Ms's. John Francis of London.
Mrs. Johns is 72 years of age, and
Air. Johns 74, Thety were married In
Exeter, March 20, 1873, by Rev, W. C.
Beer. Bet1, were born, in Devon-
shire, Eng., but the greater part ,of
their lives have been ep•en,t in. Usborne
and Exeter. We weals them many
more wedding anniversaries..
GOLDEN WEDDING.
Mr. and 'Mrs. P. T. W. Madge, Con.
8, Usborne, on Tuesday celebratedthe
fiftieth anniversary of their wedding.
The stele and wife, and three .daugh-
ters and their husbands, and a num-
ber iaf the grandchildren were pres-
cnit for six o'clock dinner, and spent
a very ,enjoyable evening. The child-
ren presented their paser>tts with a
;clack and Book of Psalms to marls
the :event.
Mr. and. Mrs. Midget have never had
a, break in the 1anai4ly, either children
nr graadcbildren. .Mr. Madge, during
the evening, wore the coat .n which
hes was married and) it is still en good
condition—barring the style. Practic-
ally the whole of l;iheir married life
has; been spent ,an the farm on .which
they ,naw reside. The many friends
will wish them many move annav"ex-
series of their wedding day.
F•or ,many . years, as neighbors in Us-
bcrne, Mr, and ens, Johns and Mr.
and :Maar. Madge celebrated their wed-
ding anniversaries together.

Death of David O'Brien.—This com-
munity was greatlyshocked at the un-
expected • and sudden death of Mr,
David O'Brien, which took place at
his home here an Sunday ,evnenxingi,
March '13, at the age of +80 yearts,
He, bad been enjoying his usual good
healthily to the very last, and on Sat-
urday was up and around as 'aright
as) ever. He was, however, the victhe
of
an, ulcerated stomach, and va!ben
stricken' down soon secumbed to the
ravages of the disease, Mr. O'Brien
wa.s one of the sturdy men of the
c c.mmunuty, ;noted for his strict integ-
rity, a kind neighbor and true friend
and his death will be mourned by t4111
who, knew him. He, is survived by his
svvife.. The funeral took place on
Wednesday at 10 a.m. with 'Requiem

Band Making Progress.—Our Band is
making great progress under the able
leadership of Mr. T. Wolper of Exeter.
Everyone is taking a kind interest in
it and we are expecting an '.,open air
concert as soon as the weather is
favorable.
The, Ladies' Aid of the Evangelical
Church pleasantly surprised their pas-
tor's wife, Mrs, Yager, at her home .on
Friday evening. :During the evening
Mrs. Hager was preselneed with two
brass jardineers, accompanied by an
address, showing the esteem .m which
she is held.
Leath .of Mrs. Ziler, Mrs. Malcolm
pier, who resided about a mile and
a half south of thevillage, Rasped
away en Friday last, She had been
in very poor health for some time
suffering from gangrene, and a couple
days previous to her demise her leg
was amputated, and the, shock proved
too great far her already weak,en,ed
cons,tituiion. She was 79 years of ag.e.
The funeral took place, to Mount Car-
mel on Monday.
