Huron Expositor, 2005-05-04, Page 17Correspondents Commun.ity celebrates wedding An atmosphere of great joy and celebration permeated St. Columban church as family members, relatives, neighbours and friends gathered to celebrate and witness the marriage of Marie Hicknell to Bill Feeney. The children and grandchildren of the bride and groom participated in the simple but beautiful ceremony, con -celebrated by Father Lance Magdziak and Father Joe Hardy. Matron of honor was Teresa Van Raay, daughter of the bride, while Francis Feeney, son of the groom, was best man. Guests were ushered by grandsons, Allan Renner and Dean Van Raay. Grandchildren of the bride, Justine Hicknell, Stephanie Van Raay, Nicholas Hicknell and Brianne Hicknell were the altar servers. The duties of commentator were performed by Joseph Hicknell, son of the bride. The readings were read by Brenda Rickert, daughter of the groom and Stephen Hicknell, son of the bride. John Hicknell and Margaret Rooney, son and daughter of the bride, led the Prayers of the Faithful, while Sharon Feeney, daughter of the groom, and Larry Hicknell, son of the bride, presented the Offertory Gifts. The St. Columban Church choir sang the hymns, while Teresa Van Raay sang the communion Hymn, "Nuptial Blessing." Father Joe Hardy, in the homily, reminded all of us that spring was in the air, and that while enduring life's many, and sometimes overwhelming difficulties, we can all hope for spring in our life. An "Open House" reception and celebration which followed, filled the Seaforth Agriplex to capacity. After a trip to Niagara Falls, New York, and Niagara Falls, Canada, the happy couple continue to reside in the community. Tile Sunday School class shared their talents as well. A largely attended celebratory dinner followed at the Seal;orth Agriplex, during which the entertainment of much local talent was enjc•yed by all.
