This person will work closely with a local committee of farmers (Peer Review), staff with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and the provincial office of the Ontario Soil and Crop improvement Association. Qualifications: • Well-respected local community leader with proven ability to motivate farmers. • Dedicated to assisting farm families with the challenges of balancing production and environmental needs. • Excellent communication skills for workshop presentations as well as a good understanding of the environmental issues in agriculture. • Efficient with administration. • Proficient with computer skills including Windows 2000/XP, Office 2002 and Power Point for workshop presentations. • Ability to work co-operatively with organizations, local communities and administrative staff. Duties The Workshop Leader/Program Representative will organize and facilitate workshops to introduce local farmers to environmental issues in agriculture through the Environmental Farm Plan and direct them to information and staff for development of a suitable action plan. Follow-up administration will include preparation of summaries for Peer Review and written comments back to participants as well as confidential record keeping. incentive claims and data processing through an interactive website will also be required. Working with local farm organizations, agri-business and extension staff, this person will motivate local farmers to enrol in the program and encourage them to address environmental priorities on their farm. II with the Elgin Regiment for 5 years with the Tank Corps. serving in Italy, Africa, France, and Holland as a Sergeant. He was a member of The Elgin Regiment and Lord Elgin Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Bill was a Charter Member of the St. Thomas Lions Club and a member for over 50 years.
