With three swim meets

Redmen claim B championship
at. Flames cup Classic tourney
The CHSS Redmen boys
hockey team participated in
the St. Thomas Aquinas
Flames cup Classic
tournament last week in
London.
After playing three very
strong teams in our pool,
two of which went to
OFSSA last year, the
Redmen had a 1-1-1 record
finishing third and
guaranteeing themselves a
place in the consolation
playoffs.
The entire team then
stepped up its play against
Saunders(London) with an
8-2 victory, and then
against Exeter where the
boys won 4-2 and moved
into the championship game
against Grand River.
The Redmen dominated
the play in final game, with
Dave McClory scoring a
natural hat trick to lead the
Redmen to a 3-1 victory
and the "B" championship.
Several players had
strong play during the
tournament.
Mark Wilbee and Jeff
Elliott continue to shine in
net for .the Redmen, Kyle
Courntey and Micah Loder
have solidified themselves
as the offensive leaders on
the team, and Matt
Carnochan and Chad Wise
have stepped up their
physical game to give the
Redmen an edge that was
missing at the beginning of
the season.
The boys played Tuesday
against St. Mike's of
Stratford.
Local residents to experience
Christmas indifferent countries
The hamlet of St.
Columban is ready for
Christmas. The bright
and colourful displays of
lights and decorations at
many homes add to the
anticipation of much
celebration.
Parishioners at St.
Columban Church are
preparing for the Christmas
Eve Mass. It will begin at
7:10 p.m. with the singing
of carols, followed by a
pageant performed by the
young'people of the parish.
Already, many family
gatherings and workplace
celebrations have taken
place. The local Knights of
Columbus held their annual
Christmas party at the St.
Columban parish hall where
several local people
gathered to enjoy an
evening of fellowship and a
great meal by Dianna.
Many of the area young
people have returned home
from studies at college and
university to be with their
family to celebrate the
season.
