into new business partnership
By Sara Campbell
Expositor Staff
Within the first week of
opening their new business in
Seaforth, co-owners of
Classic Touch Liquidation
are already restocking their
inventory.
Donna Teatero and
Maureen Renning held the
grand opening of their
business, Classic Touch
Liquidation, at 60 Main St.,
on Nov. 1.
"We have had
overwhelming support from
the community," said Teatero,
of Egmondville. "Our first
week was amazing."
Classic Touch Liquidation
has a wide variety of
furniture, bedding, kitchen
appliances, bathroom
supplies, electrical tools and
more.
"We have a little bit of
everything." said Renning, of
Brucefield.
Teatero said they purchase
their products from
warehouses and sell at "lower
than warehouse price." She
added that they ensure all of
their products of are good
quality.
"We've seen other
warehouse stores but we
wanted ours to have a classier
look," said Renning, adding
that is why they named their
business Classic Touch
Liquidation.
Teatero said their inventory
changes regularly and have a
fully stocked inventory.
"We want to give our
customers a large choice,"
said Renning.
Teatero said they are
already planning to expand
their business by adding
larger appliances such as
fridges, stoves and
dishwashers.
Renning and Teatero met
only a year ago, through their

Brussels Business Group
complete main street facelift
By Sara CompbeN
Expositor Staff
The Brussels Business
Group has recently
completed a one-time
project of giving the town's
main street a facelift.
"We received 100s of
compliments from town
people and others from
across the area about how
beautiful our main street
now looks," said Deb Seili,
member of the Brussels
Business Group.
-Seili said a grant program
was offered to owners of
downtown storefronts as an
incentive to enhance the
front of their buildings. She
added that although many
of the storefronts are empty
or the building is
unoccupied, giving them a
facelift could help to attract
businesses.
"It just really helps to
make our main street more
attract to everyone," she
said. "It's a one-time
opportunity for these store

few more years."
Fourteen store owners
participated in the program
and had their buildings
painted over the summer.
The business group is only
waiting for responses from
two other store owners
about whether they will
participate as well, she said.
Seili said the idea for the
grant program came while
organizing the Brussels
Home Tour in 2002. She
said the group designated
funds from the tour to
beautify and make,.
improvements to the
Brussels main street.
Seili said the Business
Group's only source of
income is from the Home
Tour, with the next tour
planned for 2004. She
added the group has no
membership fees or any
other fundraising events.
She said that the group
also purchased hanging
flower baskets and
additional trees for the main
street, which totalled
$2,500.
Seili said a Downtown
Improvement Project Sub-
committee was established
to organize the program,
purchase the flowers and
trees, contact store owners
and coordinate paint colours
for the storefronts.
The group recommended
getting students to help
paint so they may use the
time towards the volunteer
hours required to gain a
high school diploma and to
gain respect for the main
street businesses so the
students will not deface the
buildings, said Seili.
She added the final say of
paint colours, painters or
other materials was made
by the store owners.
"The committee had no
particular theme in mind.
We just wa9ted to give the
main street a totally, fresh
facelift," she said.

Teatero said it was actually
their husbands that came up
with the idea for the business.
"They thought is 'was
something the town was
missing," said Teatero.
Teatero said their children
are also an an active, part of
the business along with their
husbands, by assisting with
inventory and stock.
"Our children have been
great help and excellent
support," said Renning. "It
really is a family business."

THANK YOU
As 1 look back over the past three years. 1 cannot help but wonder
where the days have gone. I guess time really does fly when
you're having fun!
The first Huron East Council has worked very hard for its
ratepayers. Getting our new Municipality up and running hasn't
always been an easy or pleasant task. but each and every
Councillor has diligently put in the hours to get the work done.
They have my admiration and respect - Em proud to call each of
them my friend.
1 wish to send my own special thanks to all of you for allowing
me the privilege of serving you for the past six years - both in
Seaforth and Huron East. I've enjoyed every minute of it and 1
will miss it. -
Good Luck to the new Council and to all of you. God Bless!
