The soup and sandwich luncheon held last week attended. Remembrance Day service will be held at Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Nov. 9. Service at Hensall United Church began with the Passing of the Peace. The choir sang an anthem, "God Of The Sparrow", with Les Hills and Jean Jacobe taking the solo parts. Fred Darke's sermon was "You Are Not Far From The Kingdom Of God." organist with Pat Veal greeting everyone and Eleanor and Eric Mansfield attending to the ushering duties. Hayden Jolty looked after the elevator. A reminder to all knitters that Dec. 7 is the deadline for mittens etc. Shoe boxes should be in by Nov. 9. There will be no church service at Hensall United Church on Nov. 9 due to the Remembrance Day service at Carmel Presbyterian Church. By Liz Sangster Dublin saddened bypassing of three former residents Dublin and area are deeply saddened as they said "farewell" to three special friends. Denise Culligan (a former teacher and friend of many people) passed away at the Mitchell Nursing Home on Oct. 25. Funeral service was held on Oct. 29 with Father Charbonneau as celebrant. Dorothy (O'Rourke) Dublin Robinson of Dundas (a former Dublin lady) died last weekend, only about a month following her sister, Kathryn Looby's death. Father Tom McQuaid, SFM died in Scarboro. Father Tom was a missionary who had been around the world, helping the poor. Daniella Anne Maria Vogels, daughter of Jennifer and Chris Vogels and Logan James Leo Simmons, son of Lisa and James Simmons received the sacrament of baptism recently. St. Columban students celebrate Halloween with costumes, dance The hamlet of St. Columban was invaded on Hallowe'en with every manner of "spook" imaginable. Animals such as lions, tigers, dogs and dinosaurs roared and barked at every door. Two old men, a jailbird, a punk rocker, clowns and "Johnny Bra - Fro" were on hand to entertain. The usual round of devils, grim reapers, ghosts and goblins, knocked on doors. in a Hallowe'en spirit. A bride, complete with her bouquet and mature bridesmaid paid a visit. Last, but not least, one of the highlights to the village was a visit by none other than "`Miss St. Columban" herself. The students at St. Columban School celebrated Hallowe'en with costumes and a junior and senior dance. There was a very wide variety of original and unique costumes worn. A can of worms, a bottle of "Listerine," a character with a twisted face wearing a vest of chains, ash.) frim the 50s, a shower complete with shower head and curtain, a mad cow, and Mr. Monopoly in person, were among the many varied characters portrayed. Prizes were won for guessing the number of seeds in the giant pumpkin. Joe Visser in the adult division guessed closest to the 531 amount of seeds. Proceeds went to the fundraising for the Seaforth Public Library changes hours to more convenient schedule The Seaforth Public Library has changed its hours this month in,. response to a survey of the public. While the libray remains open for the same number of hours each week, the hours have been changed to a more convenient schedule for the public. The library will open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m., instead of the previous 2 to 9 p.m.. Hours on Friday will remain the same from 10 to 5 p:m. but will change on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., opposed to the previous hours of 1 to 5 p.m. The library remains closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. Two preschool hours are being held Friday mornings from 10 to 10:45 a.m. and from 11:15 a.m. to noon. As well, to celebrate Canadian Children's Book Week, author Amy Pinchuk will be visiting the library on Friday, Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m. Her books include The best book of bikes, Make amazing toy and game gadgets and Make cool gadgets for your room.
