Women share, poems,
stories about farming years
In November
we received the
Huron County
Ploughing Match
Kippen East W.I.
tape after telling about our farming years.
We enjoyed poems and contests dealing
with farming given by Rena Caldwell,
Grace Drummond, Marlene Bell and
Frances Kinsman. Reports were given about
the area convention and rally noting the
increase in fees.
Our December meeting began with a
Christmas dinner on Dec. 14.
Wouldn't you know it snowed on our
meeting day.
Our roll call was a "Highlight or Memory
of the Kippen East Women's Institute."
A poem, "Dreams," was given by
Dorothy
Cooper and
two different
versions of the
"Day and Night After Christmas," by Helen
MacLean and Phyllis Parsons seemed very
appropriate.
"Laughter is the Best Medicine, and we
had a big dose, watching slides that had
been taken in the late 60s and early 70s.
Sometimes we couldn't recognize
ourselves.
Frances Kinsman had a contest and
Marlene Bell gave courtesy remarks.
We exchanged gifts and closed the
meeting with "We Wish You a Merry
Christmas."

Rev. Kevin Rutledge of Emanuel Baptism
Church, Exeter, led worship service Tuesday
afternoon with Belva Fuss as pianist.
Residents are enjoying singing the many
Christmas hymns.
Lorraine
Brock and Marg
Cole visited
throughout the
week to organize euchre games for those
residents that like to spend an afternoon in
some friendly competition. Seniors dining
group drew a good crowd Thursday evening
for the turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
Friday afternoon found some appreciative
individuals out in the sunroom luxuriating in
foot soaks followed by a relaxing foot
massage with lotion. It is amazing the
visiting that occurs as activity staff give this
very basic, but personal attention.
